Tonight there are two sets of shows in two different locations, the Upper West Side and the Lower East Side, both presented by The Rockwood Music Hall for you to consider. The show uptown is called Downtown comes Uptown and is a follow up to a similar show presented last May. The Rockwood Music Hall is bringing four acts that usually play on their Allen Street stages up to Lincoln Center. Those musicians are singer-songwriters of various stripes. Emily King, Anais Mitchell, Aaron Lee Tasjan, and Sean Rowe will be playing somewhat shorter sets than their usual ones at The Rockwood. WFUV‘s Rita Houston will serve as MC. This program will be followed tomorrow with full sets from all of the acts at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2. This promises to be a unique evening, and it is all free.
Meanwhile downtown at The Rockwood Music Hall itself, Joe Whyte will play his brand of Americana in his first full band show in four months at 8pm. A bit later, starting at 11pm, Chris Morrissey and Rich Hinman will each play a set. Both Chris and Rich will have jetted back from the West Coast, where last night they played behind Sara Bareilles on The People’s Choice Awards.
